Just before 10pm, Sussex EOC alerted Delmar Fire Department for a motor vehicle accident on August Road. Shortly after the first 74 units responded Sussex advised there were 3 patients ejected. This additional information added Sussex County Paramedics and aviation. Units arrived on scene confirming 3 patients ejected; one adult and two pediatrics under the age of 7. Additional EMS units from Laurel and Gumboro were requested. A second Helicopter was requested from Maryland State Police as well. Two pediatric patients were transported by ground to a local trauma center. One adult female was life flighted to a trauma center by Maryland State Police Trooper 4 with life threatening injuries. The second aviation unit was utilized to search for the driver who fled the scene. Units operated on scene for an hour and a half.
