March 1, 2025, Delmar Fire Department was alerted to assist Laurel with a woods fire. This was one of many woods/brush fires in the region. Units arrived on scene to find a large woods fire as the result of an unattended burn pile. 74 units and crews from 4 separate counties operated for approximately 3 hours to bring the fire under control. The Delaware State Fire Marshals Office is handling the investigation.
