At 5:10pm, a mile long stretch of Ocean Highway (US 13) was the site of several incidents in a short period of time.
Delmar Fire Dept responded to a blown transformer with associated grass fire on northbound Ocean Highway just north of Winner Blvd. Units arrived to find an extinguished spot fire in the grass. The light show caused by arching power lines contributed to a three vehicle collision in the southbound lanes of Ocean Highway. Arriving Fire and EMS units made contact with those drivers and determined that accident to be non-injury.
As units were clearing the transformer incident, a call came in for a reported MVC with injuries at the next intersection. A two vehicle collision occured southbound Ocean Highway at Stage Road. All drivers declined EMS care and transport at that incident, which required diverting southbound traffic temporarily while crews cleared debris from the roadway and moved one of the vehicles to a safer location. One vehicle sustained minor damage and a flat tire. Delmar firefighters changed the tire at the scene.
